Projects and industry cooperation
Grant projects
As a department we participate as researchers or co-researchers in various grants announced by state organizations such as the Grant Agency of the Czech Republic (GAČR), the Technology Agency of the Czech Republic (TAČR), the Ministry of Industry and Trade (MIT), Student Grant Competition of CTU (SGS), etc.
Grant topics addressed to date include:
- Development of the hybrid circuit breaker precharging unit.
- Development of a compact charger based on GaN transistors.
- Development of anti-slip protection for freight locomotives.

Industry cooperation
Furthermore, the department cooperates in contract research with industrial partners such as Porsche Engineering, Eaton, Innomotics, Siemens, CRRC, Brema, etc.
Contract research topics addressed to date include:
- Development of the water scooter drive control.
- Development of the electric bicycle drive control.
- Control design and simulation of an on-board electric vehicle charger based on a matrix inverter.


Cooperation proposal
eForce FEE Prague Formula
eForce FEE Prague Formula is a student project of the Faculty of Electrical Engineering of CTU, which focuses on the development and production of racing formulas powered by electric energy. The eForce team designs and builds its own monoposts that compete in the international Formula Student competition.
Students involved in the project gain practical experience in designing, manufacturing, testing and racing electric vehicles, while developing their technical and managerial skills. The eForce team regularly ranks among the top student teams in this prestigious competition. The formula project is administered by the Department of Electric Drives and Traction.
