Department ofElectricDrives and Traction
The technology that drives society
Electric machines, drives and power electronicsResearch in the Department of Electric Drives and Traction focuses on several key areas. The main activities include research into power semiconductor converters and their control, which find application in both "drive" and "non-drive" applications. Another important direction is the study of modulation strategies for inverters and algorithms for the optimization and efficient control of electric drives. Researchers are also working on the hardware design of power converters and the programming of their control processors.
The department provides teaching in bachelor, master and doctoral programmes. The most significant share of taught courses is in the study programme Electrical Engineering, Power Engineering and Management. Course content includes electrical drives, inverters, automotive applications and electrical devices.
As a department we participate as researchers or co-researchers in various grants announced by state organizations such as the Grant Agency of the Czech Republic (GAČR), the Technology Agency of the Czech Republic (TAČR), the Ministry of Industry and Trade (MIT), etc.
